Ozempic
semaglutide
FDA-approved for type-2 diabetes management. Once-weekly subcutaneous injection.
How it works
Ozempic is the same molecule as Wegovy (semaglutide), but its FDA approval is for type-2 diabetes rather than chronic weight management. It mimics a gut hormone that slows gastric emptying, reduces appetite, and supports insulin signaling.
How we use it
Ozempic is prescribed within the GLP-1 Weight Optimization program for patients with type-2 diabetes whose physician determines it is the appropriate FDA-approved option. We do not market Ozempic for weight loss — that indication belongs to Wegovy. Continuity is a priority — you will see the same physician whenever clinically possible.
What to expect
Once-weekly subcutaneous self-administered injection. Dose escalation per the diabetes label: 0.25 mg → 0.5 mg → 1.0 mg → 2.0 mg weekly, advancing approximately monthly per tolerance and glycemic response. Maximum on-label maintenance is 2.0 mg weekly.

What the literature says
Published trials of semaglutide in type-2 diabetes (the SUSTAIN program) report HbA1c reduction and weight reduction. Mon Élan does not claim specific outcomes.
How it reaches you
Branded Ozempic is prescribed and dispensed via a separately licensed retail/specialty pharmacy partner at the dispensing pharmacy's published cash price; the exact figure is pulled at each visit and surfaced in your portal before you authorize routing. Mon Élan does not add a markup to medication.
