MON ÉLAN
GIP + GLP-1 receptor agonist

Zepbound

tirzepatide

FDA-approved for chronic weight management and for obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity. Once-weekly subcutaneous injection.

Mechanism

How it works

Tirzepatide activates two appetite-regulating hormone receptors — GIP and GLP-1 — instead of one. It slows gastric emptying, reduces appetite, and improves glucose handling.

Technical detail
Tirzepatide is a dual agonist of glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptors with a half-life of approximately 5 days. Combined incretin action produces glucose-dependent insulin release, central appetite suppression, and slowed gastric emptying.
At Mon Élan

How we use it

Zepbound is part of our GLP-1 Weight Optimization program for patients meeting on-label criteria for chronic weight management or obesity-related obstructive sleep apnea. Continuity is a priority — you will see the same physician whenever clinically possible; 45-min initial visit, 30-min monthly check-ins.

Route & titration

What to expect

Once-weekly subcutaneous self-administered injection. Dose escalation per the FDA-approved schedule: 2.5 mg → 5 mg → 7.5 mg → 10 mg → 12.5 mg → 15 mg, advancing approximately monthly per tolerance. Maintenance is individualized to 5, 10, or 15 mg weekly.

What the literature says

Published trials of tirzepatide for chronic weight management (the SURMOUNT program) report mean weight reduction at one year. As with all GLP-1 RA therapy, effects depend on continued use. Mon Élan does not claim specific outcomes.
